REVIEW POLICY
Publication of articles in the Journal of Midwifery and Nursing is subject to scientific validity and coherence as assessed by our editors and/or peer reviewers, who will also assess whether the manuscript is understandable and whether the work can make an implementable contribution to the World Health Organization.
INITIAL EVALUATION OF MANUSCRIPT
The editor will first evaluate all submitted manuscripts within a maximum of 1 week and have been adjusted to the Journal of Midwifery and Nursing template. Although rare, it is very feasible for an exceptional manuscript to be accepted at this stage. Articles rejected at this stage are not original enough, have serious scientific flaws, or are outside the aims and scope of the Journal of Midwifery and Nursing Articles that meet the minimum criteria are forwarded to expert reviewers for review. This usually takes up to 4 weeks.
TYPE OF REVIEW
Submitted manuscripts will generally be reviewed by experts who will be asked to assess whether the manuscript is scientifically sound and coherent, whether it duplicates published work, and whether the manuscript is clear enough to be published or not. The method used is anonymous peer review. Further rounds of the review process will be carried out if the first round is inadequate.
REVIEW REPORT
Reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:
1. Is original with clear statements of objectives and gaps.
2. Is methodologically follows appropriate ethical guidelines.
3. Has results/findings that are clearly presented and support the conclusions.
4. Properly references previous relevant work.
5. Reviewers are not expected to proofread or copyedit the manuscript.
DECISION
Reviewers advise the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. The editor will make a decision based on this review report and, if necessary, the reviewer will consult with the Editorial Board members. The editor's decision is final.
